Leading the PSS team are Joan and Marc Plisko. As an award winning and seasoned director, planner, and educator with a systems thinking and life-cycle mindset, Joan provides strategic direction and oversees the daily operations of PSS. Marc, highly skilled in analytical and scientific methods, provides technical direction and financial oversight to PSS.
Joan Plisko, PhD
Prior to launching Plisko Sustainable Solutions, LLC in 2014, Joan served as a director of Maryland Hospitals For a Healthy Environment (MD H2E) for ten years. Active in the community, Joan has served as a sustainability policy advisor to elected officials and was the founding chair of Baltimore County's Commission on Environmental Quality. Previously, Joan worked as an environmental systems engineer contractor for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Joan holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Systems Engineering (Clemson University), an M.E. in Systems Engineering (University of Virginia), and a B.S. in Commerce and Engineering (Drexel University). Marc has over 25 years experience as an industrial hygienist and environmental consultant, with projects completed both in the United States and internationally. Marc is skilled in the commercial, industrial, maritime, and healthcare sectors, including projects that created artificial reefs using decommissioned U.S. Navy ships. Marc's technical skill-set includes worksite analysis, exposure assessments, compliance plan preparation, and program auditing, among others. A Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) since 2001, Marc has a B.S. in Commerce and Engineering (Drexel University), has been an accredited Asbestos Inspector and Management Planner (since 1990) and an accredited Asbestos Project Designer since 1994.
